 Hand Applique - Embroidered Hearts

It was another soothing task to hand - applique the hearts to the scrolls background.  

 

Each heart is positioned approximately the same.

 

Notice the hand - top-stitching as well.

 

I hand - embroidered, hearts within hearts.

 

The backs are fairly neat in appearance.

I've created many log cabin blocks over the years.

 

Squaring blocks during and after the sewing process is the best way to result in nearly equal sized blocks.

 

Loving the repro fabrics on this one.

This is another FIRST.

 

I created the four-patch in the center, first; and then added the remaining linear sewn blocks.

 

For subsequent blocks, I have learned that it is easier to create TWO (4-patch) units, first

 I hand - embroidered this beautiful little gem, myself. 

 

This is my own unique design. I used my imagination and free-hand drew the flowers and the leaves, and then did the embroidery with good quality DMC embroidery floss.

Matching the outer border seams was the most difficult part to do.
