Backyard Finds

While caring for the chickens today, I gazed down and found some of the most wonderfully colored Fall - Autumn - Winter leaves.

The lone feather, and the straw decided to join the party. 😂

I usually rake, but not this year, so far.

This is an "Old Timey Bikes" Single Irish Chain Quilt Top that I made.

"Life is a Beautiful Ride" is the name of the bike fabric.

This is the quilt top, only. You may purchase it from my Etsy shop.

Irish Chain Quilt Tops can be difficult to make.

There are multiple nine-patch blocks that must first be created and then sewn with as near accuracy as possible.  [None of mine are perfect.]

Fun with Pinwheels - Again !

These are 9 x9 inches, each.

Purple and White -though they might appear to be Blue and White.

Great for a Fall or Summer Leaves theme.

Loving the tonal here.

 Burnt Brown/Orange combination. Gorgeous.

Notice how cute the black and white floral tonal goes.

I've been up to Hand - Applique lately.

Apprx. 19 x 15 1/2 inches.

I created a beautiful red yo-yo and placed it in the center of this block, that can be used as a doll-quilt, or a wall-hanging.

I love doing soothing hand-applique.

The contrasting top-stitching really accents this lovely little crazy-pieced project.

To Capture a REDBIRD known as a CARDINAL

I had never realized how difficult it was to capture a photo of a Redbird/Cardinal until a few days ago, after a great Aussie buddy mentioned never having seen a redbird in person.

I had to think about it, but was pretty sure that I'd seen the little critters many times, in the trees, and on the ground of my property.

Questioning my own eyes, I then made it a point to be on the watch-out for REDBIRDS, male and female. (as though I can discern the difference)

Look closely and you'll notice the yellow and black beak trademark of Cardinals.

Seeing these beautiful creatures, and photographing them proved to be a different subject; for, they would always fly away before I could get my camera.

It happened while digging in my garden yesterday. [I had the camera outside, in anticipation of photo-ing preparations that I'd begun towards my upcoming vegetable garden] I heard a lot of BIRD-CHATTER, looked up, and there was a Cardinal amongst the crew. You betcha, he/she flew from tree to tree, limb to limb, as though he/she knew that the camera was focused on it. It took patience from me, waiting, and moving from one angle to another just to get these photos.  Finally, it remained still long enough for ME-Yeah Right!!

You'll probably notice that it was constantly moving from one pose to another. (perhaps he/she decided to pose for my camera afterall, just as a fashion model does, displaying varying angles).
Oops, the electric-wire decided to get in the photo as well!!

It Snowed Here On December 25, 2010

First, I would like to know WHO bribed the weatherman, in order to get SNOW on Dec. 25 ??
There were light flurries sticking in some spots when I got up this morning. (Oops, I didn't get up until 12:44)

By mid afternoon the ground was about totally covered.

My beautiful summer flowers have withered away.

Yep, that's the same limb that the LITTLE SQUIRREL sat on. (See photo of him on left side of this blog)

Are those chicken footprints??? Hmmnn You might have to be from the farm to answer that question.

The YUCCA enjoyed the snow, I think.

The above photo kinda resemble the moons' surface, doesn't it ??

See the squirrel nest in the above photo.

Me thinks that my farm equipment kinda got snowed under.

There's even snow in the chickens fenced area. They took one look outside, saw the white stuff and wouldn't step a foot outside.(they remained in the basement ALL DAY.

It's good that I didn't consider putting clothes outside to dry on the clothesline today.
Those are okra stalks still standing in the snow.

Hedges meet SNOW.
Yucca & Hedges meet SNOW.

Notice how the SNOW sticks on only ONE side of this tree; and collects atop the pole. Interesting weather phenomenon.
Can I get some applause please?? I posted these photos on the same day that they were taken. (an extremely rare event for me) ( All taken on Dec. 25, 2010)
