Hand Applique Needleturn Red Cardinal Bird

This is a block that I needleturn appliqued a few months ago. I'm just not sure of which type project to use it in. I would love to have your VOTE. (see the upper left side of my blog to vote)
Would it look great on the flap of a messenger bag?

Should I make a mini quilt with it?
Should I applique it to a tote bag?

Can you notice the difference in the color of the wing and the birds' body??
I guess I'm full of questions on this one.

  1. I voted! I think it would be nice on any of those projects, though:)

  2. I vote that you make three more with two of them reversed and create a quilt around the four set as a medallion. If I were to make it I'd piece the background with some shades of blue and green - tree and sky and maybe even incorporate a tree branch that it's sitting on.

Or not. Just turn it into a bag.

Thanks for commenting on my blog.

  3. Thanks for the comments ladies.

Marlaine, I have printed out another template, couldn't find the previous one, and will get my applique fingers ready, and do three more birds.

I have created a rough sketch based on some of your suggestions. I can't wait to see this one come to fruition. Many thanks. Edna
