A pecan tale
This is from the pecan tree in my front yard. The pecans began dropping in late July, seriously, and they are terrible. Not a good crop this year.
Not so good pecans
I haven't found one yet that was edible. I have noticed a few partially eaten ones that the squirrels dropped that seemed pretty good. I guess they're finding the best ones way up in the tree before they fall.

Three New Babies
Lookee at what I 'found'.
These little
ladies are of the 'Light Brahma' persuasion. It has been a few years
since I've owned this brand. They grow-into such beautiful chickens; and the previous ones were so nice and caring.
+++
I remember when one of the other chicken became ill, [that she had
grown-up with] it was the Brahma that would often sit with her in a
seemingly nursing manner.
This quilt top is apprx. 45 1/2 inches x 37 inches.
+++ The layout is called: Fields and Furrows.

SecondGiganticEgg
One of the girls did it again. Second Gigantic egg within a week. It had to have been one of the three hens pictured below, because they roost together at night; and both eggs were found in their area.

Is This The Longest Chicken Egg, Ever ?
Today, when I went to release the hens from their nighttime 'secure area', I found a super long egg.
I've found oversized eggs before; but I think that this one creates a record.
I'm not sure of which one laid the egg. However, I am able to limit it down to three of the ten hens. Guess I'll be making omelet from just this one alone. When I crack it, I will notice whether two or three yolks are inside.
I love to design, craft and read; and is a divorced mom and YOUNG grandma. Did I mention that I am, also, mom to six lovely hen chicken!!! I hold a college degree; and is a former secretary.
