The Hens Did Good.

 Those worms that I dig, almost daily, must've really paid-off. 😂

Seven of the ladies are about eleven months old. The more mature ladies are slightly over three years old.

Quite possibly, the white egg might have been laid by the brown  leghorn chicken.

 

Would a CHICKEN consider gardening?

 

 

Well, she looks as though she is curious about the shovel.

 

Guessing, she decided that bugs are more entertaining.

 

Broccoli - root failure here.

I planted several store-bought broccoli roots here. No broccoli materialized.

My garden received plenty of rain; after over a week.

 

The chickens were either looking for bugs, or inspecting the new plantings.

 

Still waiting for the first eggplant to produce. Several blooms, but no produce.

 

A pickin' from the garden; and from the hen-house.

 

The banana pepper was mighty delicious for my breakfast addition.

 

 

I had quite a few blueberries this year.

My Vegetable Garden 2013 (Part 1)

I kept my word this year, and really did begin my garden in early March. Everything is planted from seeds except for the

broccoli,

and the red onions.

The red cabbage survived the 110+ temperatures of last Summer; and this past Winter.

The Turnips and Arugula had popped through the soil after only FOUR days.

Below is the first plot that I began. I originally made it circular, but later squared it.

Of course, the girls, chickens, were always helpful.

In the meantime, the pears, peaches and plums were developing.

 I could no longer resist the broccoli. I made Broccoli Rabe with the leaves.
